The Nevendon Tales

I received The Nevendon Tales last week from Simon Bill. He has created lots of small very tall tales from which I will be creating a Ghost Wlak. The stories are fab and go so well with Zoe,s wonderful tree stump illustration. I am going to make a podcast audio guide from the Tales.

30 11 06 My Web Hell

The last two days have been spent in The Bunker feverishly loading up email addresses to create a Group email address. I did it via my .Mac account and really enjoyed playing with all the little extras of the site - loading in URLs etc. Found a hilarious Pimp My Pup site/image. However, I then got an email back from Joanna saying the Mac Invitation asked for her credit card details! So toaday I have created another group email via my Mac Mail...but because I don't want the email to come form my personal (+mispelt) personal email I spent nearly an hour trying to configure the website email address. Anyway, success in the end. ANd a new group has been collated to send out via info@. I then spoke to Catherine Butcher, whoo joined the .Mac group.. She asid she had not been adsked for bank details, so maybe that address will work aftre all, in which case people will eithergetthe info twice or I will have to make sure I delete certain addresses from the info@... email group. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joy!!

Dinner Nov 23 06

What a treat. We had dinner at Rochelle's Canteen off Arnold Circus EC2. David, Catherine Butcher, Cathy Shelbourne+ Joanna Baxendalefrom Commissions East, Bob Smith, whom I know as Patrick Brill so I will refer to him as Patrick from hereon, and the four other artists Jane Wilbraham, Hayley Newman, Milika Muriku+ Lucy Harrison. (I'll fill in surnames later!). I sat in between Joanna + Milika + opposite Lucy.
Milika has four tower blocks in Southend. SHe is making a light sculpture in the neglected laundry area of the block which is programmable by the residents via a modem. Sounds gorgeous. Lucy's project is not dissimilar to mine. She is creating A Canvey Guidebook, and gathering info and local histories via activities, the first of which starts this Sunday. It's called the Rendezvous Club, named after a previously existting club there. Members will meet + walk + talk. Sounds lovely. First Sunday of every month. I really hope to go, but both my kids havave birthday parties to go to thatdayso it may not be possible. It turns out that Dr. Feelgood are form or hacve strong links to Canvey Isdland and are playing a gig there on New Year's Eve which Lucy is going to. I fancy that too. Somehow failed to take pics at the dinner, but I do have pics of my train journey and the picturesque spot where we got delayed for half an hour!

Busy Busy Busy

More nerve centre pics! Once I get down here I get sucked into the comuter/web vortex. I have schedules, list, contact details + calendars all over the wall - as you can see - and in my head. My to do list runneth over - as usual. Now that I am starting to get the hang of the myspace thing I am starting to enjoy it. I managed to "make" some friends, after initail technical difficulties, and today saw that Faarago Poetry have posted Bulletins of their forthcoming events, which is cool. I then tried to post a Bulletin for the Christmas Fayre, but it didn't work! Maybe you can only postforo the month we are currently in?

I have set up an 'Art U Need Needs U' myspace page to advertise all the events and show all documentary photos and videos. See address above.

13 Nov Update

I've been absolutely head down for the last two weeks, working like a maniac to getthe Diary ready to go to press. In theory, it wil go to press at the end of today. The Arcadian Collective have done a stirling job. I can't wait to see the published book. I moved the nerve centre down into the basement as I was freezing was I had been working. See pics. I'm now having fun!!! configuring web domains, email addresses - info@artuneedneedsu.org - it works!! I've also set up a myspace account. I'm a bit suspicious of myspace because I read that it was like an evil computer vortex where just logging in can mean your whole hard drive is wiped!! - but of course that is just hear say! Let's hope. So we do have - www.myspace.com/artuneedneedsu.U will have to be patient with me re this site. Again, can't get photos to laod. My space suggested a free download Irfan View which woul dlet me re-size the jpgs. I downloaded it and then of course it wouldn't beep open! I will have to find a computer whizz kid to help out with all this. Same for the website www.artuneedneedsu.org. It will happen. Don't worry.

My Poets' Corner Hell

See pics.
It is no more.

Update 1 Nov

Back to the nerve centre. U[ploading photos, emailing them on. It takes a horribly long time to upload photos. Sending off info to Simon bill who is writing the ghost story, to Arcadian who are designing the book. Re-writing bits of teh Diary. Updating this blog. Though I now have less and less time just now to do that. Next: compiling Info, briefs and contracts for all the artist and performers I am engaging for the events. Resesarching origins of street names for the story. making an advert for the Interlock Newsletter. Writing up shoppping lists and pancake recipes for the Diary.

Halloween Field Trip

Back again. This time with Paul (Snoopy) Nagle and Sophie Hope from B+B who is assessing the whole project.
My aim was to thoroughly explore Nevendon Bushes to get material and info for the Ghost Story. I also needed to walk the Circle Walk that I am proposing for Sun 7 Jan.
The woods walk was delightful. This time we did get in via the housing estate, albeit through a broken down fence. We walked right through.. I got more good oics, one of which, if you look closely, definitely has a black shape marauding in the background !! U could see it but the blog won't load pics just now! We eventually found our way back outvia the actual gateway that leads into the houses...so now I know.
We then walked the circle walk, which apart from a few spots which were not especially pedestrian friendly, worked very well. I decided that I will not do the little detours to Painters Green a+ poets' Corner as it will be too confusing. We will simply march in a circle. I ran my idea of putting some money behind the bar at the end of teh day at the Watermill Hotel. they thought it was a fine idea. So I will. Paul liked the idea of the Dog Show - he's a dog owner. I thought I might ask him therefore to propose one of the Competition Categories. Sophie and I visited Tony Guyon and Doreen Bolton at Interlock for more facts + figures, then appeased our grumbling stomachs in The Cafe. They'll start to recognise me soon.
I overstayed my time limit and hit traffic and high winds on the way home and was late back!

Girly Visit

Wed 25 October
Site visit with Joanna Pocock, who is writing a Travel Piece and Zoe Griffiths who will be doing some illustrations for the diary and to accompany Joanna's Travel Piece for the Souvenire Goody Bag and both my children. I met them atthe station and took them off immediately to the transport cafe just outside N.P.N as we all needed to feed. Plus it gave me timme to brief Joanna and Zoe as to exactly whay I need form them both. So suitably refuelled we entered the zone.
I showed them all the sites I am incorporating into the project -- as originally shown to me by the residents (Doreeen et al). We tried unsuccessfully to access Nevendon Bushes from the estate but got lost so drove around to the Burnt Mills Road entrance. A pleasant walk was had and some good snaps taken of burnt out tree stumps etc. (And lovely wildlife I hasten to add). We then mopved on to Speakers' Corner and Painter's Green (Havengore). Next up was Poets' Corner, which I discovered to my horror is now under demolition. See pic. Oh well. We will have to use the park and funny little bridge opposite instead. We ended up at Northlands Park where son number 2, who had accompanied me the previous day when I came for a meeting, delighted in whizzing around in a funny little bucket chair, as he had done yesterday.

Blog still refusing to upload images!
